This three-hour course teaches firearm responsibility, safety training and is designed to provide a hands-on discovery learning introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to specific pistol action types and is done so in a small group setting. This course includes classroom and gun range time learning to shoot revolvers or semi-automatic pistols. Students will learn the rules for safe gun handling, pistol model parts and operation, cartridge components and firing sequence, shooting fundamentals, two handed bench rest supported shooting position, cleaning pistols, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and the FIRST Steps course completion certificate.Note: For the NRA portion of the live fire drills you will use our pistol and ammunition, which is included in the course cost.
Please note: No ammunition is allowed in the classroom. Leave it in your car. If you do not own a pistol for the optional Group Shooting Clinic we will rent you ours and you must buy the ammunition to complete your range live fire exercise. You will need 100 cartridges for the clinic. If you have eye and electronic ear protection, bring them. If not, we sell eye/ear protection.
Every student is required to sign a waiver of liability before each class.
